Sean Fredricks

Sean Fredricks

Founder & CEO

Sean Fredricks is the founder and CEO of MedXwaste. He is an esteemed entrepreneur, business leader, innovator, and public speaker, with his finger on the pulse of highly regulated businesses including medical waste, hazardous waste and information destruction. Through MedXwaste, Sean and his team used their expertise to create a business model which meets the rigorous demands of compliance while supplying superior service and simplifies information in a meaningful way for both franchisees and their clients. Sean first entered the regulatory waste arena in 2005 when he successfully built Code Shred, at that time, the largest independent mobile and offsite paper shredding company in the tri-state area. Under his leadership, Code Shred was awarded the Inc. 500/5000 award in 2009, a prestigious award for being the 186th fastest growing business by Inc. magazine. Demonstrating over 1059% growth from 2006-2009, Code Shred was the 15th fastest growing company in the Pennsylvania, New Jersey and the New York area. Some of his past customers have included the Federal Reserve Bank, Social Security Administration, the Internal Revenue Service, Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of Corrections, among others. Today Sean is an owner of Legal Shred, a company that has operated since 2007. A mentor and advisor to many in the medical waste industry, Sean has served on the Board of Directors for a medical waste industry association and is a sought-after speaker for industry-related conferences and events.

From a young age, Sean was privy to the entrepreneurial world as he witnessed his father build a flourishing business. He knew this was what he was also meant to do. Bitten by the proverbial “entrepreneurial bug,” Sean thrives on helping other entrepreneurs develop their businesses as well. Although being a serial entrepreneur has always excited him, the part that has held Sean’s true enjoyment and purpose, helping others grow their business, was missing. With this in mind, he believes that franchising a business will align both his goals and those of the franchisees in creating successful businesses utilizing his knowledge and expertise in the fields of medical waste and shredding.

Greg Opkych

Greg Opkych

Business Processes

Greg Okpych is a forward-thinking entrepreneur inspired by conservation and protection of the environment. Graduating Cum Laude from St. John’s University, Greg earned his bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science in 1997.

In the following years, he worked with the Town of Hempstead’s Department of Conservation and Waterways as well as James and Leonard Engineers (J&L Technologies).

Always seeking opportunities where he could help both people and the environment, he co-founded Code Shred in 2004. Greg and his team built a customer portfolio of over 5000 customers for Code Shred. This portfolio included businesses such as American Child Services, IRS, Dept. of Homeland Security, Federal Reserve Bank of NYC, Lutheran Hospital, Enterprise Car Rentals, A&E Channel, Silver Cup Studios and Salvation Army.

Further inspired to make an impact in the environmental sphere, Okpych invested in solar-powered businesses.

When the opportunity to build a partnership in the medical waste company MedXwaste, emerged, Greg discovered a business in which he could unite his strengths with his passions. An enterprise that focused on customer service, education and helping the environment, MedXwaste was the business of his dreams.

Greg’s love of nature and the environment extends beyond learning about it and preserving it. In his downtime, he can be found fishing, surfing, gardening and out in the wildlife, especially with his wife and son and other family and friends.

Judith Papo

Judith Papo

Accountant

Judith’s experiences, first as a high school English teacher and then as a certified public accountant, give her a rare combination of an individual who both enjoys communicating and analyzing numbers. She, with her family, launched HV Shred in 2008 when her husband, Jeff began looking around at the possibility of outsourcing shredding at Tuminaro Pharmacy, of which he is co-owner. Seeing a need in the community for shredding and recycling resources, as well as an increased need for education regarding identity theft and protecting client information, Judith, Jeff, and her father in law, Fran, built HV Shred from the ground up.

When Fran retired in 2013, Judith and HV Shred moved into a new chapter with partner Jason Fredricks expanding into the Metro area with the dba Legal Shred as well as expanding into medical waste with Red Bags.

Judith continues to be a stalwart supporter of community and particularly fellow small business owners. She is a Rotarian and life-long resident of the Hudson Valley.

Jeff Papo

Pharmaceutical Specialist

As a licensed pharmacist and Independent Pharmacy owner for over 15 years, Jeff Papo has a breadth and depth of knowledge of medical waste that is invaluable to the Red Bags team.

After graduating Albany College of Pharmacy, Jeff followed a career path learning as much as he could from his experiences at Eckerd, Wal-Mart, Rite Aid ultimately reaching the level of district pharmacy supervisor before launching Tuminaro Pharmacy in Hopewell Junction to fulfill his life’s passion for running his own business and providing a true family-friendly old fashioned pharmacy in his hometown.

Since opening the pharmacy, he has also had the vision to help his wife found HV Shred, Inc now doing business as Legal Shred to provide a similar customer-centered service in the field of secured data destruction.

Joining the Red Bags team has been the logical next step and he is “all-in” on what we know at Red Bags to be the crucial piece missing in our competitors—education.

For fun, you might find Jeff Skiing, Golfing, Wakeboarding, Wake Surfing, Or helping with the maintenance and running of the Legal Shred team and fleet of trucks.
